Single flower focus (2)

...

Shooting with a snapshot camera with a simple fixed lens limits nature photography.

Everything is in focus. No bokeh. Not something you want when photographing insects or flowers.

The challenge is to bring attention to the subject.

One way is to photograph the subject against a contrasting background, in this case an iris. Best if the background has no other flowers. Even better if the background is a different color. Better yet if lines of perspective lead the eye to the iris.

A green field of iris plants, one violet bloom, a brown path vanishing into the distance.
